A group of students and professors from the medicine school at Universidad Central de Venezuela (UCV), members of the Proyecto Mayú (Mayu Project) and Fundación Yammine (Yammine Foundation), joined forces and resources to offer medical and dental assistance to 380 patients, residents of Chichiriviche de la Costa, on Vargas estate.
Proyecto Mayú (Mayu Project) is conformed by 27 students and 13 professors of UCV, who do social work by giving assistance to low resources communities.
On its behalf, Fundación Yammine (Yammine foundation) offered the logistics support that let them guarantee the groups’ accommodation, food and the medicines they applied and gave away to the inhabitants of the community.
Sarkis Yammine, spokesperson of the Yammine Foundation expressed how important health and education are for Fundación Yammine and that they will carry on supporting Proyecto Mayú.
“This time, the people from Chichiriviche de la Costa received quality medical assistance, they got their treatments as well as the students got the instructions by the professors” – he added. Yammine also mentioned that this integration between the help the people receive and the UCV is of great importance.
During the six days that this program lasted, 392 medical consultations were held. 177 adult patients were assisted, 119 children and 91 dentist consultations.
Among the medical specialties that the program offered, there were: Internal Medicine, Dermatology, Pediatrics, Gynecology and Obstetrics. And there also was a laboratory service.
Sarkis Yammine assured that Fundación Yammine’s Family will carry on supporting these projects that help making our country a better place.
