A total of 16 kilograms of plastic were collected by volunteers from the Yammine Foundation, present at the fourth edition of the Gatorade Bici Rock that took place last Sunday in Caracas, informed the spokesman of the Foundation, Sarkis Yammine.
Almost 2,000 cyclists gathered in the activity, in which they gave their maximum effort with rock music playing in the background. At the arrival of the race, located in the Claret College of Alto Hatillo, the Yammine Foundation placed units for the separation of waste material to spread awareness about the importance of recycling.
Sarkis Yammine explained that the Foundation has been working on the environmental issue as one of its lines of action and in that sense, they develop the program “Our Beaches” aimed at encouraging the culture of recycling in the Venezuelan coasts. He added that the activities are carried out within the framework of the “Sow the Future” plan, in which efforts are channeled to improve the environment in a self-sustaining fashion.
He indicated that the Foundation wishes to continue participating through new alliances in sporting events, not only to collect the recycling material, but also to encourage citizens to care about the environment.
